Design System Case
While involved in the corporate website relaunch of DEVK, one of Germany's largest insurers, I recognized the urgent need and unique opportunity to develop a design system from scratch to serve all upcoming revamps of their digital touchpoints.
Objectives
Establishing a foundational design system to improve efficiency and consistency across digital touchpoints, supporting internal and external teams while ensuring unified user experiences to enhance the brand and drive business outcomes.
Process
Being the sole creator of the design system alongside other UX and UI design tasks, I focused on practicality and prioritized direct testing and utilization. Subsequently, I integrated essential written guidelines, benefitting the entire team. Over time, all fundamental design decisions, elements, and guidelines were included. After implementation, advocacy became crucial for the Design System's success, ensuring adoption across project teams.
Result
The design system currently supports various DEVK teams, with more digital touchpoints awaiting a revamp based on the Design System. Internal stakeholders and external vendors, including agencies and freelancers, rely on it for their work.
